A natural spectacle

The Rio Sass Canyon cuts in two parts Fondo, an important village of the municipality Borgo D'Anaunia in the Non Valley.
The first part of the canyon is immersed in the ancient rocks, the second part is more open and bright and there you can admire a ferruginous spring and a dam of tree trunks built in the late 1700s.
Since 2001 the path can be covered safely thanks to walkways and ladders.

Our society
The Cooperativa Smeraldo was established in 2001 to manage of the Rio Sass Canyon and the Palanaunia. In the following years it also took over the management of the Palasmeraldo and the The House of Water Museum with the attached Bertagnolli Mill.
The Cooperativa has 36 members, including the Municipality of Borgo D'Anaunia. The current president is Lucia Donà. Lucia and the vice president Giorgio Covi are among the founding members of the company. The other members of the board of directors are: Remo Bonadiman, Lorenzo Abram, Alessandra Tosolini and the representative of the Municipality Walter Clauser.
